I Really Don't Know Why I Bother Reading The Politico

Top Democrats say the partisan fights over health care reform, the stimulus and other issues show that the GOP won’t play ball and that Obama shouldn’t compromise his principles — or theirs — in an attempt to win more than a handful of Republican votes.

“I think we need to push someone who would be on the liberal side, on the progressive side, just as Roberts and Alito are on that side,” said Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), referring to Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito, who were both confirmed in George W. Bush’s administration. “Why do conservatives always get the conservatives, but we don’t get to get liberals? What the hell is that all about?”

These are two of the most ridiculous paragraphs I have read in the longest time.

First, the Democrats could have pass ObamaCare and any other Progressive Democrat legislation at will with the majorities they held until Brown's election. The truth is their legislation is so damaging to our economy and nation that even some Democrats don't want it (or don't want to face their constituents after voting for it).

Secondly, Tom Harkin, the last time I checked, Ginsberg and Sotomayor are not exactly hard core conservatives.

What this is about, Tom (and the Politico) is when your ideology and party holds the White House for just under 10 of the last 30 years, you tend to get less nominees on the Progressive side of the spectrum.
